The American eugenicist’s 1922 book, whose title term “Under-Man” was rendered in the 1925 German edition (Der Kulturumsturz: Die Drohung des Untermenschen) as der Untermensch — the word the Nazi state fixed to those it marked for elimination. The book’s existence, title, author, and year are confirmed against the Internet Archive catalog (primary); the etymological transmission to Nazi usage is documented by Domenico Losurdo, Historical Materialism 12:2 (2004), a secondary source. Trust tier: primary for the artifact, secondary for the etymology.
