WHEN WE ARE WRONG
A record that cannot admit error is not a record.
The standard
An error of fact is corrected on the page where it appeared, with a dated note stating what changed. The correction lives at the essay, in the open, not in a drawer. We do not rewrite quietly and hope nobody kept a copy. The archive's authority rests on being checkable, and a checkable archive shows its repairs.
This is practice, not promise. The record already carries them. DENIED holds a correction dated 2026-07-08. WITHOUT A WORD FOR IT holds one from the same date, naming four claims that failed the check, including two quoted phrases that appear in neither document they were attributed to. The notes stand on the pages. That is the standard doing its work.
The ledger
Every correction this archive has made, newest first. The full note stays on the essay where the error ran; this is the index. 11 corrections, across 9 files.
- The Out-Caste Doctrine Docket note dropped: the claim that the raw 1936 pamphlet scan of Annihilation of Caste differs from the Columbia edition by an article had been checked against an archive.org item dated 1936 that is in fact the 2014 Navayana annotated edition. The epigraph is verbatim against the Columbia edition the essay cites; the pamphlet claim is unverified and is withdrawn until a 1936 printing is read. Ten cited works, including the Douglass epigraph, had no source record and now do.
- The Out-Caste Doctrine Public edition revised after the editorial chain: the July compression had removed every first-person We from a doctrine about self-naming, opened on the thesis instead of the scene, and cut the section that grounds the doctrine's own title word. Restored, with the foundation as the only source.
- The Sovereign Publishing Manifesto Editorial chain, seven stages, run on the published text (WR-DOCTRINE-CHAIN-GATES-RULED-2026-09-03). Mechanics landed: the series field read Sovereign Stack, the name of an unshipped product line, and now reads Civic Heresy Series like its sibling; the opener lost its rally word. Logged, not changed in this text: two claims made in voice, the twenty-thousand-dollar shop figure and the number-one-cultural-export line, are marked as voice in the one-sitting public edition and stay as written here; the full line-edit and voice-fidelity findings (chain reports of 2026-09-02) are recorded and frozen against this foundation by ruling.
- The Sovereign Publishing Manifesto This document claimed ten typed content collections. The stack has thirteen; the count had not moved as the archive grew.

- What Was Buried, Not Broken Checked line by line against the four primary documents. Five things were wrong, including the Hialeah ordinances dated to 1993 when they were enacted in 1987.

- DENIED Three errors named: a Red Cross figure that carried a qualifier belonging to a different number, and two more. Published 2025-02-01.

What counts as an error
Wrong numbers. Wrong dates. A misattributed document. A quotation that does not match the primary source. An image presented as showing something the frame does not show. A claim that outran what its documents support. Any of these, brought to us with the record in hand, changes the page.
What does not
Interpretation, argument, and emphasis are not errors of fact. The essays argue, and the arguments are marked as arguments. If you dispute a reading, bring documents. The docket answers to documents.
