Penn’s own archive on Paul Robeson’s persecution, blacklisting, and final West Philadelphia residence. Records the 1950 State Department passport revocation; the federal-court rulings throughout the 1950s upholding the travel restrictions; the cancellation of concert bookings following the Hollywood Ten indictments; sustained FBI harassment; and the fact that Robeson lived the last decade of his life (1966–1976) at 4949 Walnut Street, in West Philadelphia, adjacent to the same campus footprint expanding through the urban renewal his life’s work had warned against.
