Assembly Bill 189 (Bloom), Chapter 396, Statutes of 2015. Adds Chapter 9.2 (commencing with Section 8758) to Division 1 of Title 2 of the Government Code, establishing the State-Designated Cultural Districts program. Approved October 1, 2015.

Grants the California Arts Council authority to identify, designate, and promote areas of concentrated cultural activity as state-designated cultural districts. Establishes a competitive application system. Initial certification lasts five years; renewal every three years thereafter. Authorizes the council to solicit and receive funds from public or private sources for the program.
