Source for NAACP National President Derrick Johnson’s characterization of investigators as “derelict” in the Nolan Wells case. No standalone NAACP.org press release was found; NPR quotes Johnson directly and at length: “We are accusing them of being derelict in their duties to follow up and to ensure that, regardless of what happened, there was a proper investigation.” The essay’s compressed “called the investigators ‘derelict’” is accurate to this verbatim quote.
