Missouri Supreme Court puts referendum to overturn new congressional map on ballot

Jason Rosenbaum, “Missouri Supreme Court puts referendum to overturn new congressional map on ballot,” St. Louis Public Radio (STLPR), published September 3, 2026. Quotes the Supreme Court of Missouri’s restraint clause in full, including “unless and until [the 2025 plan] is approved by the voters at the November 2026 general election and takes effect 30 days thereafter,” and glosses it: the 2025 map “was suspended as of December 2025 – meaning that, at least for now, Missourians will vote using the 2022 lines.”

Raw HTML read 2026-09-21, AFTER this alert published, and that is the point of this record.

🔴 This file sat downloaded and unread in this session’s scratchpad the entire time the alert was drafted, gated and published. It was cited twice in the alert’s own gate notes by someone who had not opened it. Both citations were wrong:

  1. A gate note attributed to STLPR the sentence “if voters reject it, the 2022 map remains permanent.” A bare match on this article returns ZERO occurrences of “permanent” and zero of “if voters reject.” The sentence came from the scout batch and was never in STLPR’s reporting.
  2. A gate note claimed the Court’s 30-day clause appeared “in no source the scout read” and that “no secondary account read for this alert said so.” This article quotes that clause and glosses it, and its hedge, “at least for now,” is more careful than the alert’s original unhedged version of the same point.

Secondary, and treated as such. Kept in the record as the source that was held and not read.
