Appeals court rules for GOP-leaning map in Missouri, pending Supreme Court review

Jason Rosenbaum, “Appeals courts rules for GOP-leaning map in Missouri, pending Supreme Court review,” St. Louis Public Radio (STLPR), published September 21, 2026 at 6:23 PM CDT. Reports that the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Monday, 2026-09-21, that using the 2022 congressional map violates the equal protection clause and ordered U.S. District Judge Stephen Clark to issue a permanent injunction allowing use of the 2025 map; that “the 8th Circuit stayed its ruling until Sept. 28”, so the Missouri Supreme Court’s order requiring the 2022 map “remains in effect” meanwhile; and that People Not Politicians, through attorney Chuck Hatfield, is appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Raw HTML fetched and read 2026-09-21, hours after this alert published.

🔴 This source exists in this record because the alert was published without it and was wrong-adjacent as a result. The alert stated flatly that “November 3 runs on the 2022 map either way.” That was true under the Missouri Supreme Court’s order and it is still true tonight, because the 8th Circuit stayed its own ruling until September 28. It is not settled, and this alert originally presented it as settled.

Secondary. It reports a federal appellate ruling this record has not read at source. The 8th Circuit opinion itself is NOT LOCATED for this alert and nothing here rests on its text, only on STLPR’s report of it.
