Lemelson-MIT, Mary Beatrice Davidson Kenner
Lemelson-MIT Program biography of Mary Beatrice Davidson Kenner: received five patents; born May 7, 1912, in Monroe, North Carolina; invented the sanitary belt years before she could afford to file for a patent, and experienced racism in her quest to obtain one; patented a walker with an attachable tray and pocket in 1976; died January 13, 2006, in Washington, D.C., at 93.
