Emily Blejwas, 'Georgia Gilmore,' Encyclopedia of Alabama, published September 24, 2019, updated October 11, 2023: Georgia Gilmore (1920-1990), born in Montgomery on February 5, 1920; head cook at the National Café, a whites-only cafeteria; organized the Club from Nowhere; testified in defense of arrested boycott leaders on February 24, 1956, was fired from the café, and started her own business with seed money from Martin Luther King Jr.; died March 9, 1990.
